A cornerstone will be placed by the end of the year in Koper for the new Orthodox church, and the Serbian Patriarch Irinej hosted the mayor of this city, Boris Popovic.

Pacolli revealed that he comes from Orthodox family and he shocked with the statement about Serbian churches on Kosovo: They were built by Albanians as well

- I am very proud of the fact that for the first time in 70 years, an Orthodox church is being built in Slovenia, and exactly in Koper, where I am the mayor - Popovic said after a meeting with the patriarch, who gave a blessing for the construction of this temple.

The municipality has provided all the infrastructure for the construction of the Orthodox church, and, as the father Dejan Mandic pointed out, the priest of Koper, the local authorities will arrange the temple yard and build a children's playground where the children and their parents would socialize after the liturgy and religious classes.

Boris Popovic was born in Koper, his father is an Orthodox from Berane who came to Slovenia when he met Boris' mother Slovenka and he remained to live on the Slovenian coast.

In his youth, Boris was in auto-moto racing business and he is the only driver from the area of former Yugoslavia who was officially third in the world in car racing.
