The survey shows that there are about 393 million small arms in the hands of the Americans, which is more than 25 countries with the largest weapon ownership combined.

A new survey suggests that the number of weapons has increased significantly since 2007 when the survey showed that there are around 875 million weapons in the world and about 650 million were in the hands of civilians.

Montenegro and Serbia ranked third in the list, right after the US and Yemen, while Bosnia and Herzegovina is tenth on the list.

There are 39 weapons in our country for 100 people, which means that 6,946,000 people have 2,719,000 weapons, which is more than a third.

- The weapons that are referred to here involves a wide spectrum, from an improvised to a factory made - the authors of the research explained.

They point out that the numbers are for both legal and illegal weapons. In Croatia, 4,210,000 people have 576,000 pistols and rifles, and in Albania 2,911,000 of them have 350,000 arms.
