The historical injustice towards Serbia has been corrected: Dacic said that he is overjoyed (PHOTO)
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic thanked Burundi for withdrawing the recognition of Kosovo yesterday.
Dacic: One state has withdrawn their recognition of Kosovo's independence
- After discussing the factual situation and our presentation to withdraw recognition, I was pleased and happy when I received a verbal not about withdrawing the recognition of Kosovo. Not so much for the note itself but rather of its content. This is a serious political text - Dacic said at the press conference with the head of the diplomacy of Burundi, Alain Aime Nyamitwe.
Dacic said that the historical injustice towards Serbia has been corrected with this act.
- Serbia isn't against dialogue but we are against unilateral moves - Dacic said.
Minister Nyamitwe said that Burundi withdrew the recognition on Kosovo because that recognition is against the principles of its foreign policy.
- The essential reason is to make sure that these and other decisions are in line with our foreign policy. We had in mind our concern whether or not to recognize Kosovo, but why should we recognize it with our principles regarding our foreign policy. If the result of the analysis was different, we would act differently - Nyamitwe said.
Serbian minister said that there are a lot of countries questioning their recognition of Kosovo.
- Many countries recognized Kosovo without knowing whether they really recognized it. The list is like a bulletin board in a company to Pristina authorities, everybody can sign on it - Dacic said.
Dacic expressed the need for international cooperation and support in international organizations, because, as he said, Serbia and Burundi are two friendly countries.
Nyamitwe said that the relations between two countries are good since the time of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which was one of the first countries that recognized the independence of Burundi.
- The SFRY played a driving role in decolonization, fighting against Apartheid, strengthening the African Union, and we pay respect to Tito for helping Africa - Nyamitwe said.
The ministers talked about the strengthening of the economy, cultural corporation, and cooperation in education.
