Patriarch Pavle deserves to be proclaimed a saint according to many believers, and that will be one of the main topics at the spring session of the Holy Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Many believers called Patriarch Pavle a "walking saint", even while he was still alive, and his admirers have been expecting a decision on his canonization for 9 years, to proclaim the patriarch a saint.

The bishop of Mileseva Atanasije Rakita agrees with this who does not deny that the canonization of Patriarch Pavle will be on the agenda of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

- It was clear that Patriarch Pavle was a man of God, there was no doubt of that. He was close to God, and what is certain is that he lived under his will and commandments. That was a man of love and kindness, and the world is hungry for men like that. When someone is fulfilling the will of God, then the God listens to him, and it was no surprise when we heard that his prayers helped someone to heal - the bishop said.

And Dimitrije Kalezic, a retired professor from the Faculty of Theology, says that he wouldn't be surprised if that was the topic of the assembly since Pavle was one of the most respected people in these areas in the last 200 years.

- After the holy Petar Cetinjski, no one was respected and accepted by people as Patriarch Pavle. And for someone to be canonized, one of the basics is that he has to be respected by people and that they will gladly listen about him. Everybody in the assembly knows that and they keep it in mind, but they are probably reserved in order not to do it too quickly, it will look like that it was imposed on the people - Kalezic said.

Professor on the faculty of Theology in Foca, Zdravko Peno, thinks that Pavle is already a said.

- You could really feel that he was different. Meeting with him remains memorable, permanents, unlike the others who don't have the charisma. It could be seen that he was a saint during his lifetime. It would be a special event to declare the Patriarch Pavle a saint, and we, the people, need that, not him because he is already in the company of the saints - Zdravko said.
