13 years later, nothing is known, not even after the judicial epilogue about the girl.

SHE SOLD HER APARTMENT AND DISAPPEARED

The daughter of the local director got among some bad people, she had drug problems, and she was staying in Itali for a while, upon returning to Kragujevac, she inherited the apartment in Kopaonicka street, which became a base for drug addicts, according to the neighbors. Two days before the murder, she sold the apartment for 30.000 euros. According to the police investigation, that is the motive of the murder. The murder was not reported, nor the disappearance because the unfortunate girl had bad communication with her relatives - said the source to Belgrade media.

Igor Spasojevic (37), also known as Macak, and Ivan Simovic (36) were arrested five years after the disappearance.

- The inspectors allegedly heard one of the suspects in a tavern bragging about killing and robbing Marija. Spasojevic and Simovic were soon behind bars - the source from Kurir said.

The police announced then that it was suspected that Spasojevic choked Marija to death on 26th March 2005, at the outskirts of Kragujevac. Then, according to police suspicions, he talked Simovic, who was a taxi driver, into transporting her body during the night.

THE BODY WAS MOVED?

He put the body into the taxi and he drove to the woods around half a kilometer away from the monastery Draca, near Kragujevac, where he buried her - was written in the police statement.

The investigation was launched in the Higher court in Kragujevac against Spasojevic and Simovic. The first one was charged with serious murder and the other for helping in the crime. Both of them were familiar to the police from before.

- We had strong indications and a report. We are convinced that the body was moved - said one of the former police officers.

A lawyer from Kragujevac, Zivorad Lekic, who defended Spasojevic, said that the police acted too hasty.

- One of the suspects, with whom they found a certain amount of narcotics, offered to tell them everything he knows about the case in exchange for a reduced sentence. He told the story that Marija was murdered and buried in the village of Draca. Instead of detailed search, it was announced that the suspect in the murder was arrested - Lekic said.

The police dug through the field in this village for four months. The latest equipment was brought, which is being used today to discover mass tombs and the aggravating circumstance was the bones of the buried citizens from the previous war. Nothing was found.

WITNESS CHANGED HIS STATEMENT

- The witness changed his statement later on in the main trial, so everything went to waste. I have to point out that the court acted professionally and released them, although the pressure was tremendous to sentence Spasojevic - the lawyer said.

THE SUSPECT LIVED WITH MARIJA

The suspicions were increased by the later behavior of Igor Spasojevic Macak. He didn't communicate with anyone. He refused to take the lie detector. He was quiet even in prison. The rumor was that the police infiltrated a spy into his cell, but he said nothing to anyone. He lived with Marija in the extramarital community.

THE DEFENDANTS RECEIVED COMPENSATIONS

By the decision of the High Court, due to the lack of evidence, both Spasojevic and Simovic were acquitted of the charges. The state had to pay them compensation for unlawful deprivation of liberty. To this date, the case has not been officially solved, and the body was not found. There is a real possibility that she has just disappeared.
