Serbia got its rival in the first knockout round: It's known who are the possible opponents till the end! (PHOTO)
Basketball players of Latvia beat Turkey in the last game of the Group D with 89:79 and so they sent Serbia to the 1st place in the group, which brings us against the fourth-placed team from Group C, which is Hungary.
The Latvians dominated and had the lead throughout the match, and the Turks only approached at one point when they came to -2, but Latvia managed to repel their advance again and again and thanks to incredible Kristaps Porzingis, who scored 28 points, came to a triumph, which makes Serbian job in the next part of the competition much easier.
It seems that the Eagles will have much easier rivals in the Last Sixteen, and in the knockout stage, since the teams of Spania, Slovenia and France are avoided until finals.
Rival in the quarter-finals will be the winner from the duel Finland-Italy, while we could see the duel in the semifinals against the winner from Lavia Greece or Croatia-Russia.
If Serbia could reach the finals, we would most probably go against Spain, who are the greatest favorites for the title, however, they will have to eliminate French or Germans before that, and most likely Slovenia after that.
This is how the road to Last Sixteen looks like:
Eighth finals: Hungary
Quarter finals: Winner from the match Finland - Italy
Semifinals: Winner of the match Latvia-Grece or the winner of the match Croatia-Russia
Finals: Spain (or someone else).
These are all pairs of the eighth finals:
Saturday:
Slovenia - Ukraine 11.30
Germany - France 14.15
Finland - Italy 17.45
Lithuania - Greece 20.30
Sunday:
Montenegro - Latvia 11.30
Serbia - Hungary 14.15
Spain - Turkey 17.45
Croatia - Russia 20.30
