The CIA has a source of information about countries that are published annually in the style of almanac - "The World Factbook". Among the numerous data are those about Serbia.

In the introductory part of the presentation of Serbia, the first information is that the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes was founded in 1918, and in 1929 it was renamed to Yugoslavia. There is no data on the previous history, and it is stated further in the text that Tito "managed to direct the path between the people of the Warsaw Pact and the West for the next four and a half decades".

It is then stated that Slobodan Milosevic became president of the Republic of Serbia in 1989 and that his "ultranationalist calls for Serbian domination led to the violent disintegration of Yugoslavia along ethnic lines."

- In 1991, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia declared independence, followed by Bosnia in 1992. The remaining republics, Serbia and Montenegro, declared the new Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) in April 1992 and under Milosevic's leadership, Serbia led several different military campaigns to unite Serbs in neighboring republics in 'Great Serbia'. These actions eventually collapsed, which, after international intervention, led to the signing of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement. Milosevic kept control of Serbia and ultimately became FRY president in 1997 - the site states.

In 1998, the Albanian uprising in the formerly autonomous province of Kosovo caused a Serbian anti-war campaign that resulted in massacres and the mass exodus of Albanians living in Kosovo. The rejection of an international agreement by Milosevic's government led to the NATO bombing of Serbia in the spring of 1999 - says the CIA.

It is also underlined that the elections in the FRY in late 2000 led to the fall of Milosevic and the installation of democratic power. It is said that, after two years of "unpredictable negotiations", Kosovo declared independence, recalling that Serbia sought the opinion of the International Court of Justice in The Hague and that some agreements were reached within the framework of the negotiations in Brussels.

It is stated at the end of this section that Aleksandar Vucic promoted an ambitious cause - Serbia and EU till the year 2020.

In addition to the "geography" section, there are detailed data on where Serbia is located, with whom it is bordering, and how much in length of the borders with certain countries is. As a closer explanation, it is stated that Serbia is "a little smaller than South Carolina", which makes it the 117th largest country in the world.

It is explained in detail what kind of climate we have, but also what kind of earth exists in Serbia, from north to south, which, according to the CIA, is used in the following way: 57.7 percent for agriculture, 31.6 forests, 10 percent for other purposes.

With the remark that earthquakes are a natural disaster that threatens Serbia, there is also a list of ores and minerals the country is rich in - oil, gas, coal, iron, zinc, antimony, chromium, gold, silver, magnesium, marble and salt.

There is a detailed analysis on ethnic groups, religious, the age structure of the population, mortality and natality, nutrition, literacy, how long does education last, how much is the unemployment of young people, how many Serbs have toilet and access to drinking water, and even the number of people with HIV.

When it comes to the last category, according to the CIA website, 2,700 people in Serbia live with HIV, which puts us in the 115th place in the world on that list.

In the section called "the government", in addition to clarifying the political system of Serbia, one can find a list of all municipalities and cities with a star marked for the territory of Vojvodina and clarification of the legal system of the state.

The data is regularly updated and the dates of changes of power are the proof of that, and it is stated that Aleksandar Vucic became the president on May 31, and Ana Brnabic is prime minister from June 29 this year.

There is also a complete list of political parties in Serbia and their leaders.

When it comes to Economy, with the notice that DOS (Democratic Opposition of Serbia) made reforms after the fall of Milosevic, CIA writes that there are 3.141 millions of work capable people, and 17.8 percent is working in agriculture, 25.6 percent in industry, and 56.6 percent in services.

It is also possible to find statistical data on Serbia's public debt, budgetary level, import and export, interest and much more.

Those who are interested in the energy sector of Serbia, how many kilowatts we are able to produce, how much gas, and how much we pollute the atmosphere, can find this information into the "energy" section.

When it comes to traffic, the CIA states that Serbia has exactly 3,809 km of railroads, 44,248 km of roads and 587 km of waterways (it is emphasized that it is mainly Sava and Danube).

In the end, after the data on refugees, their number and origin, the funds for the army and military service, it is stated that "the economy is vulnerable to money laundering" and that the Balkan route is the point of transfer of heroin from Southeast Asia to Western Europe.
