Miracle in Serbia: Lake where islands are floating (PHOTO) (VIDEO)
Semetes lake on Kopaonik is really unique for many things, especially because you can ride the floating islands, and they have trees and plants which give additional experience.
To take a ride along the lake you need only oars or something that will help you to start these really unusual boats.
This kind of floating on the water is certainly an unusual and very rare phenomenon that makes this lake unique.
The islands also move, when the wind blows, providing spectators on the coast a phenomenal and unusual sight.
But, Semetes lake is not special just for that, but it is worth mentioning what geologists claim it has originated a few million years ago from the glacier.
An interesting fact that it also distinguishes it from other lakes in Serbia is that the divers could not examine its bottom because they went up to 10 meters deep, and because of the strong currents that dragged them towards the bottom, they had to come to the surface without wanting to risk their lives to measure the depth.
Since divers have not been able to examine its bottom, many legends are related to this lake.
The locals of this area think that fairies gathered on Semetes lake and that water beast lives there which utters a sound at night which will make your blood freeze in your veins.
One of the folk stories said that one monk wanted to do the threshing, separating the seed from the plant, on St. Cyril's day, although the locals warned him not to do that on that day. However, he started the job, and the land opened, swallowed him and the horse. After that, the water came out and it is still trembling.
A real jewel of our country is hiding in the area of village Semetes, on the west side of the natural beauties of Kopaonik. Lit by the sun, surrounded by trees and low-growing plants swinging in the wind, Semetes lake is a real place which you should visit.
The one in the middle is shaped like a funnel, it is around 80 meters wide, and the temperature of water reaches over 20 degrees.
