Belgrade student of dentistry in the humanitarian mission in a country where one in six children do not reach fifth birthday, Zanzibar (VIDEO)
Belgrade dental student Ljubomir Micic went to Zanzibar to repair teeth of children and to teach them some hygiene habits. This noble young man, who is already planning new missions in Africa, said he will never forget his first meeting with them.
- I cant describe that emotion with words. You have to when someone prepares that gesture for you. So, people who have absolutely nothing, give everything. They have nothing and they want to gift you everything they have. If its a song, or a prayer or some small souvenir they made. You can't buy the feeling when you give a child in Africa a toothbrush and the kind of emotion the child returns - said Micic from Bijeljina.
According to him, the conditions on the ground in this country where one in six children do not reach their fifth birthday, do not allow large dental intervention. The most common is use of special medications to prevent tooth decay.
- But Balkan could learn something from Africa. No matter what they have, you can see the unity of people cooperating and work together on progress - said this young man.
This is not his first humanitarian mission. He returned few months ago from a mission in Mozambique.
