Serbian Assembly President Ana Brnabic said yesterday in Belgrade, during a conversation with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, that membership in the European Union remains Serbia's foreign policy goal despite numerous challenges, and that Serbia will continue to implement all necessary reforms, primarily for the sake of its citizens.

The National Assembly said in a statement that Brnabic thanked Kos for her visit to Serbia and added that she hopes the visit will contribute to intensifying Serbia's EU integration.

Kos assessed that the current moment provides an exceptional opportunity to complete the unification of Europe, bearing in mind the profound changes in the geopolitical climate.

She expressed strong political will to cooperate with the new government of Serbia on implementation of reforms that will enable membership in the European Union, stressing that Serbia occupies an important place in the enlargement process and represents an important partner of the European Union.

The meeting also discussed a set of media laws that should be adopted, the election of the new Council of the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media, the implementation of ODIHR's recommendations for improving the electoral process, as well as all other current processes within the Assembly.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Serbia to the European Union Danijel Apostolovic, and Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia Emanuele Giaufret.
