David Knezevich, a naturalized US citizen originally from Serbia, who was accused in Spain and the United States of killing his wife, Ana Knezevich Henao, has been found dead in his cell in a Florida jail.

The news of his death has been confirmed by his lawyer.

After it was announced that David had passed away, Ana's brother Felipe Henao spoke for the media.

"This is all a big tragedy for my sister and my family. We had the naive hope he'd come clean and tell us what he did with her. Now, that's not going to happen," Felipe said, according to newsnationnow.com.

David's wife Ana, who was of Colombian-American origin, disappeared just a few weeks after she moved to Spain in February 2024, which caused international attention.

Security cameras captured a man wearing a motorcycle helmet entering her apartment and turning off a surveillance camera before she disappeared, and prosecutors believe the man was her estranged husband, with whom she had a dispute over millions in real estate.

Knezevich was also seen on another security camera at a hardware store in Madrid on the same day his wife disappeared. According to the US authorities, he first went to Serbia and then headed to Spain to find his wife.

David Knezevich was a businessman and owner of a tech company, as well as a multi-million dollar real estate portfolio in Florida, which he and his wife bought during their 13 years together.
