The first public photo of the new Dassault Falcon 6X airplane, a part of the Serbian government's air transport fleet, was taken on Sunday at the Banja Luka airport.

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic traveled on board the plane to the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina) to attend ceremonies marking Remembrance Day for the victims of the genocide committed in the Jasenovac concentration camp during the Second World War by the Independent State of Croatia (NDH).

This was an opportunity for aviation enthusiast to witness operational use of the government's new Falcon 6X - a modern long-range business aircraft, whose technical characteristics and capabilities we present to you below.

Exactly a year ago, the portal Aero.rs had the opportunity to attend the presentation of the Falcon 6X aircraft in Belgrade, which we reported about at the time.

Dassault Falcon 6X: New standard in business aviation

Dassault Falcon 6X represents the French manufacturer's latest step in the segment of large long-range business aircraft. After a complicated experience with the Falcon 5X, which was canceled due to the failure of the Safran Silvercrest engine, Dassault quickly turned the situation around by launching the 6X - an extended and improved version with Pratt & Whitney PW812D engines.

The Falcon 6X made its maiden flight on March 10, 2021, and entered regular service on November 30, 2023, following successful certification by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the EU Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The Falcon 6X has the widest cabin among business jets developed for this purpose, with a width of 2.58 meters. The cabin is 1.98 meters high and 12.30 meters long, providing more space for work, rest and socializing during long flights. The total volume of the cabin is 52.2 cubic meters.

The aircraft uses advanced wings with an area of 70.7 square meters, which enables a maximum take-off weight of 35,135 kilograms. The wings, together with the digital flight control system, provide outstanding performance on short runways and enable stable flight in turbulent conditions.

Performance: Dominant in its class

The Falcon 6X has a range of up to 5,500 nautical miles (10,200 kilometers) at a cruising speed of Mach 0.80, while the maximum speed reaches Mach 0.90.

The aircraft can fly at altitudes of up to 51,000 feet (15,545 meters), allowing it to avoid commercial corridors and most unfavorable weather conditions, ensuring faster, safer and more comfortable long-haul travel.

Thanks to an advanced pressure control system, cabin pressure is maintained at just 3,950 feet (1,204 meters) at cruise altitude, significantly reducing passenger fatigue and improving the overall physical condition upon arrival.

The minimum take-off length is only 1,560 meters, while the minimum landing length is 744 meters, which allows access to airports with short runways such as London City and Saint-Tropez.

Propulsion is provided by two Pratt & Whitney PW812D engines, each with thrust of 13,500 pounds. These engines are up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) compatible and deliver a double-digit improvement in fuel consumption compared to previous generations. They also use advanced technologies to reduce emissions and noise.

The Falcon 6X cabin offers configurations for up to 16 passengers in three separate zones. Large windows and skylight above the kitchen provide natural lighting.

The noise level in the cabin is below 50 dB-SIL, while the air is constantly refreshed through hospital-grade HEPA filters.

Falcon 6X brings the latest version of the Easy IV cockpit, based on the Honeywell Primus Epic system, with improved graphics and new functions such as the display of moving maps at the airport and predictive weather radar.

The FalconEye system combines synthetic and realistic terrain on the Head-Up Display, providing pilots with exceptional situational awareness even in bad weather conditions.

The Falcon 6X is also the first Dassault model with a nitrogen inerting system, further increasing the level of safety.

Modernization of the Serbian government's fleet

The Serbian government's air service, tasked with transporting top state officials, has significantly improved its capacities with the inclusionn of the Dassault Falcon 6X.

The current fleet also consists of an Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft registered as YU-SRB, which entered service in 2018, and a Learjet 31A registered as YU-BRZ, manufactured in 1991, which is still actively used for short and medium flights. Until recently, a Dassault Falcon 50 produced in 1981 was also in use - it was withdrawn in 2023.

The new Falcon 6X (Falcon 6X), a modern long-range business aircraft, provides a significant improvement in operational capabilities, enabling a longer range, better performance on short runways and modern equipment for doing demanding official tasks.

With its entry into the fleet, the service has an aircraft at its disposal developed according to the highest standards of safety and efficiency, which additionally ensures reliability and flexibility during official and international government missions, allowing for flights between Belgrade and destinations such as New York, Los Angeles, Johannesburg, Beijing, Tokyo - without the need for stopovers.
