Christian Schmidt suspends all budget payments to Milorad Dodik's party

Christian Schmidt, whose appointment as high representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has not been confirmed by the UN Security Council, today used the "Bonn powers" to impose a decision to suspend disbursements of all budgetary funds for Milorad Dodik's SNSD, and Ujedinjena Srpska, a whose leader is Nenad Stevandic.
"I issued a decision suspending all budget disbursements for political party financing for SNSD and Unjedinjena Srpska," announced Schmidt.
He stated that all budget funds for financing these parties at all levels of government in BiH will be suspended and redirected to a special account at the Central Bank of BiH.
"This decision supports the efforts by BiH institutions to counter the ongoing flagrant attacks by the RS ruling coalition led by SNSD and Ujedinjena Srpska against the fundamental principles of the Dayton Peace agreement and the constitutional and legal order of BiH," stated Schmidt.
Schmidt claims that the leaders of SNSD and Ujedinjena Srpska have been at the forefront of "these anti-Dayton activities."
"Any failure to comply with the decision I passed today is subject to criminal liability. The decision is effective immediately. When these parties show full respect to GFPAP again, I will reconsider."
Schmidt also announced he will visit Camp Butmir, for a meeting with the EUFOR commander.
