As the fight against corruption continues in Serbia, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, UKP, and the department for the fight against corruption, arrested nine people on suspicion that they had committed criminal acts of abuse of official position, negligent work and abuse of the position as the responsible person.

The arrests were authorized by the Special Department for Suppression of Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in the town of Nis.

Those arrested are I.P. (1979), former director of JP Srbijasume (Serbia's national public forestry company) SG Pirot, D.DJ. (46), manager of the Stara Planina Nature Park SG Pirot, A.Z. (46), responsible person of PD 21 Maj Mramorsko Brdo, M.R. (41) and D.M. (68), responsible contractors, M.K. (46) and M.K. (31), field engineers from SG Pirot, V.B. (63), head of the service for planning and forest management and M.J. (50), officer for development of forest management basics.

It is suspected that they, from November 2020 until December 2023, while carrying out construction works on the adaptation and investment maintenance of the Hunting House in Siroka Luka, Pirot municipality, did not comply with the Law on Planning and Construction and the Rulebook on Professional Supervision of a Facility.

The suspect I.P. appointed D.DJ., M.K., V.B., M.J., and M.K. to carry out professional supervision and technical approval of completed works, who, it is suspected, accepted to perform professional supervision and technical approval of works, although they do not meet the conditions prescribed by law and do not have the necessary licenses.

It is suspected that M.R. and D.M. did not perform the works in accordance with the project, while A.Z. invoiced works that were never carried out, thus incurring damage to JP Srbijasume SG Pirot in the total amount of about 3,008,000 dinars and in the same amount made gains from PD 21 Maj Mramorsko Brdo.

The suspects will be brought before the competent prosecutor's office along with criminal complaints.

Police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Criminal Police Directorate, and the Department for the Fight against Corruption will continue their work to combat corruption and financial crime in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
