President Putin meets with Serbian and Russian Orthodox Patriarchs Porfirije and Kirill

Russian President Vladimir Putin met on Tuesday with Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, who is currently visiting Russian.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the (Russian Orthodox Church) Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk and Metropolitan Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), the Kremlin announced.
Earlier, the press service of the Moscow Patriarchate announced that Patriarch Kirill met with the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow, during which he emphasized that there has always been mutual love and brotherly support between the churches.
"A meeting between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia was held in the Patriarchal Residence in the Danilov Monastery," the announcement states.

Serbian Patriarch Porfirije arrived in Moscow the night before, where he will stay during Holy Week, and during his visit, the Moscow Theological Academy will present him with an honorary theology doctorate.
Based on the decision of the academic the Moscow Spiritual Academy, led by the dean and bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov, the head of the SPC will be awarded the honorary degree for his scientific and educational contribution to the development of theological science and strengthening of ties between the two sister churches.
