The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated yesterday that a new wave of arrests of Serbs under the false pretext of war crimes, on the second day of the biggest Orthodox holiday, Easter, "demonstrates the entirety of Pristina's despair and the anti-Serb stance of Albin Kurti, who wants to mask his political defeats by attacking Serbs."

The Office added that it is no coincidence that Serbs were arrested on the very day when Kurti "again failed to push through his candidate for the president of the so-called assembly of Kosovo and when he experienced a debacle - so he goes after Serbs again."

The Office points out that Boban T. from Lipljan, who has lived and worked in that town for 26 years since the conflict, and who has now been detained, is a political victim of Kurti's regime who is falsely accused.

Nadica C. was arrested under the same circumstances, the Office said, noting that the woman had been coming to Lipljan for years and never had any problems - "until Kurti and Sveclja decided to declare her a war criminal, with no evidence."

The announcement states that the Office immediately provided lawyers for the arrested Serbs and that they will be given any kind of assistance they need, as well as that the Office for Kosovo and Metohija will contact all international missions regarding this "political retaliation" against the Serbs in order to inform them about this new wave of repression against Serbs.

"The outgoing government in Pristina is making its last desperate moves, after which it will have to finally admit defeat," the announcement states.

Three Serbs have been arrested on Monday in Lipljan and Pristina, suspected of allegedly committing war crimes against the civilian population during the conflict in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, in 1998 and 1999.
