Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS) today strongly condemned the production and distribution of so-called "wanted warrants" featuring photos of the public broadcaster's editors and journalists.

In a statement published on its website, RTS stated that unknown persons presenting themselves as "students in the blockade" published those "wanted warrants" on social networks and that during the blockade of the RTS premises, those images were also pasted onto buildings, flags, traffic signs and other public areas.

The statement stressed that such actions directly threaten the safety and lives of RTS employees, whose photos were published without their consent and in a context that calls for their lynching.

"The so-called 'wanted warrants' featuring photographs of RTS editors-in-chief who are presented as 'enemies of the people', and which are spread on the internet and placed on buildings, flags and other public surfaces, are disturbing and instill fear, and the method used is reminiscent of the darkest period in the history of the 20th century," the statement emphasized.

RTS called on the competent institutions - the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other state bodies to react urgently, identify the perpetrators and take all necessary measures in line with the law.

Posters in the form of mock "warrants" appeared in the vicinity of the RTS building in Takovska Street in Belgrade, which has been blocked by protesting students since the evening of April 14.

The posters were signed by "students in the blockade".
