The Appelate Court in the town of Nis has ruled that the Higher Court in Negotin has jurisdiction in the proceedings of examining the indictment against Dejan Dragijevic and Srdjan Jankovic, who are suspected of murdering Danka Ilic, a 2-year-old at the time she disappeared in the spring of 2024.

The second-instance court recently sent back the decision on the confirmation of the indictment to the Higher Court in Zajecar and ordered that it, among other things, completely change the judicial panel before making a new decision.

After that, the Higher Court in Zajecar asked the Appellate Court in Nis to appoint another competent court.

The first-instance decision to confirm the indictment should now be made by the Higher Court in Negotin, while the Higher Court in Zajecar extended the detention of Dragijevic and Jankovic for another 30 days, which may last until May 9, Tanjug was told in that court.

Among other things, the Appellate Court ordered the first-instance court to supplement the investigation, reconstruction the events under the same meteorological conditions and time of day, and question once again I.I., the child's mother, as a witness.

The current indictment charges Srdjan Jankovic and Dejan Dragijevic with the criminal offense of aggravated murder, while Radoslav Dragijevic, the father of one of the suspexrs, is charged with the criminal offense of assisting the perpetrator after the crime and failure to report the crime and the perpetrator.

In the indictment, the prosecution proposed that the court sentence both Dejan Dragijevic and Srdjan Jankovic to life in prison.

It is suspected that on March 26, 2024, Dejan Dragijevic and Srdjan Jankovic first hit the child with a car belonging to the Public Utilities Company Vodovod, where they were employed, and then put her in the vehicle.

This allegedly happened in Banjsko Polje, near the town of Bor, in eastern Serbia.

It is suspected that they then left the body at a roadside garbage dump, and that it was later moved from there.

The body is yet to be found.

Radoslav Dragijevic is suspected of helping his son move the body.

Dejan Dragijevic's brother, Dalibor Dragijevic, died on April 7, 2024, while in police custody in Bor.
