125 people arrested throughout Serbia, at least 670 MILLION dinars missing: Results of big March operation

Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Anti-Corruption Department of the Criminal Police Administration during March continued their ongoing operation in the fight against corruption and financial crime.
In cooperation with the special anti-corruption departments of the higher public prosecutor's offices in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Kraljevo, they arrested 125 people, while criminal complaints were filed against a total of 127 people for crimes under the jurisdiction of the Anti-Corruption Department, concerning illegal gains in the amount of more than 670 million dinars, and damages in the amount of about 770 million dinars.
Among those arrested in March were local government officials in Bor, Leskovac, Golubac, Zitoradja, Brus, as well as a large number of responsible persons in business entities in the Republic of Serbia.
In regular procedure, 7 criminal complaints were filed against 9 persons suspected of having made illegal gains in the amount of 21,70,951 dinars and incurring damage caused in the amount of 22,668,845 dinars.
Since the beginning of the year, the Anti-Corruption Department has implemented a total of 53 cases involving 297 persons charged with committing corrupt criminal acts and financial crime, resulting in illegal property gains in the amount of 3,255,598,876 dinars and damages in the amount of 4,325,316,985 dinars.
With their continued results, about which the public is regularly and timely informed, members of the Anti-Corruption Department are demonstrating their willingness and determination to combat all forms of corruption and financial crime.
