"I saw a plane falling down": Eyewitness reveals new details about the drama on the Sava River

A Cessna 206, which yesterday fell into the Sava near Prograr, upstream from Belgrade, was pulled out of the river on Monday.
As our reporters at the scene found out, the pilot of the plane was rescued with the help of the people who witnessed the accident and who immediately approached him in their boats.
"He constantly flies over and lands on the Sava. I don't know happened but the plane dropped down, turned over and began to sink," a local told Telegraf.rs.
The river police arrived quickly to investigate and the plane was recovered near what the eyewitness referred to as "the shipyard."
"I saw the plane felling... it didn't look at all harmless. People immediately rushed to help and pulled a man out. Shortly after he was rescued, the river police came to investigate, and the plane was pulled out as well," said our interlocutor.
The cockpit of the Cessna 206 was full of water when it was recovered 300 meters downstream.
We learned that the crash was caused by a gust of wind over the river. The hydroplane was just landing on a platform, but was hit by the wind at that moment and tumbled into the river.
The Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has been informed about the case.
