Former Partizan football player Andrija Delibasic died today at the age of 44, after a battle with cancer, Radio Television of Montenegro has reported.

Delibasic, who was born in Niksic, made a name for himself playing for Spain's Rayo Vallecano, and for Partizan Belgrade.

At only 14 years old, he joined the ranks of the Serbian club, from where he continued to build his career in Europe.

He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2023 while working as the coach of the Montenegrin club Mornar.

Delibasic at the time underwent emergency surgery, and the fans of Montenegro unfurled a banner with a message of support during a game against Serbia.

Similar messages also arrived from Rayo Vallecano, Real Sociedad, Hercules, Mallorca, Spain's La Liga...

After the surgery, Delibasic returned to football and became the sporting director at Buducnost FC.

Sadly, after some time, the disease returned and his codition worsened.
