President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabic expressed her deepest condolences to all the citizens of North Macedonia and the families of those killed in the tragedy in Kocani, and said that Serbia will help in any way it can.

"I want to use this opportunity to once again offer my deepest condolences to the whole of North Macedonia, to all the citizens, the people there and, of course, above all to the families of the victims. A terrible, terrible tragedy, not only for North Macedonia and its people but really for the entire region, something that is utterly unprecedented and terrible," Brnabic told TV Pink.

She recalled that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic had a telephone call early on Sunday with the president and the prime minister of North Macedonia, as well as that the matter of assistance was discussed during a Serbian government session yesterday, when Vucic ordered all relevant authorities to provide all available help to the neighboring country.

"Serbia was the first to respond, which is natural and normal, and we should be proud that we can help our brothers in North Macedonia in that way. This shows how much Serbia has changed in the last 10 years, because today we have specialized medical transport planes and helicopters and, after all, we have the most modern clinical centers with the most modern equipment," Brnabic stressed.

At least 59 people died in the fire that broke out in the night between Saturday and Sunday in the Pulse night club in Kocani, while over 100 were injured.

Serbia has declared March 18 a day of mourning for the Kocani victims.

Serbia on Sunday also sent medical teams and helicopters, which during the evening transported a number of seriously injured people from North Macedonia to Belgrade.
