Election commission in Kosovo and Metohija says all votes cast on February 9 have now been counted

The counting of the ballots cast in the elections for the Assembly of the provisional institutions in Pristina, held on February 9, was completed last night at the Center for Counting and Results in Pristina.

The counting process was supposed to be completed by 19:00, but it was further delayed by two hours, according to Reporteri. The site also said that the reason is that the ballots from one box could not be counted because of problems in the system.

A Commission spokesman Valmir Elezi said that the process of counting more than 15,500 votes from conditional polling stations and votes of persons with special needs, which were the last to be counted, was completed at 21:00.

Elezi stated that, according to the Law on General Elections, the Commission is under obligation to wait at least 48 hours before announcing the final results.

That law allows for submitting complaints within 48 hours regarding the administration of the vote counting that was carried out at the Center for Counting and Results.

Elections for the assembly of the provisional Pristina institutions were held on February 9.

The preliminary results were published on the Commission's website on February 20 and did not include votes from conditional polling stations, votes of persons with special needs and votes cast outside Kosovo and Metohija.

Those results were being published very slowly on the Commission website, and it was down for several hours on the evening of February 9, when the first preliminary results were supposed to be published.
