Father with 2 babies in the car drove close to 150 kmph, tried to overtake, flipped over! One infant dies

"He was driving fast while the babies were in the car, it was terrible... He tried to overtake, and when others cars appeared moving in his direction, he wanted to avoid a collision. He veered off the road into a field and the vehicle overturned several times, a tragedy..."

These are the words of an acquaintance of the two families who experienced a terrible traffic accident on the Zrenjanin-Lazarevo road.

She told Kurir that the scene was terrible, and that the parents of the boy who died and the mother of the other baby were in the Fiat. The children were hospitalized immediately after the accident, but unfortunately, the boy died from his injuries.

"The car was driven by J.K. (20) from Srpska Crnja, and his wife was sitting in the passenger seat, while their three-month-old son, who was born on December 3 last year, and the mother of the second baby, who was also born last year, were in the back. J.K. and his wife had an argument at one point, he then accelerated, started driving at about 140 kilometers per hour even though the children were in the car, and since he failed to react in time, swerved into a field and there they overturned," says the acquaintance.

According to her, the woman who was in the passenger's seat fell out of the vehicle and suffered serious injuries, as did one of the passengers who was in the back seat.

"Everyone was injuried, some more, others less seriously, but the biggest tragedy is that the baby lost his life, while the doctors are still fighting to save the other. It is in critical condition," the acquaintance said and and added that both babies were in their seats, but were not strapped in:

"The baby's parents are beside themselves, the father was arrested because he was driving the vehicle that apparently caused the accident, and the mother cannot recover from the shock. She gave birth in December, the baby was only three months old, life was ahead for it, none of them will ever recover from this."

The police issue statement

Acting on the order of the chief public prosecutor of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Zrenjanin, the police arrested J. K. (20) from Srpska Crnja, on suspicion that he committed serious criminal offenses against public traffic safety.

"He is suspected of causing a traffic accident in which five passengers suffered serious injuries, including two children born in 2024. As a result of the injuries, one child died in a health facility," the police said.
