Novi Sad City Assembly elects new mayor

The Assembly of the city of Novi Sad on Monday elected Zarko Micin as the new mayor.
Micin is a member of the electoral list "Aleksandar Vucic - Novi Sad Tomorrow".
Micin has experience in management positions in the public sector, as the former executive director of JP (public company) City Construction Institute Novi Sad, general director of JP Sports and Business Center Vojvodina Novi Sad, and executive director of JP Urbanizam - Urban Planning Institute Novi Sad.
He served as deputy in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia three times, and also as cabinet chief to the deputy prime minister and minister of defense, as well as to the prime minister.
Today's session got off to a stormy start. Representatives of the Novi Sad opposition first moved the barriers set up in front of the assembly and started throwing eggs and shoving the police who were retreating, until the Gendarmes arrived in front of the building.
After that, there was general commotion and pushing, and at one point strong blasts from pyrotechnic devices were heard.
The police eventually managed to push the protesters away from the entrance. Regardless, they continued to throw eggs at the officers, but also red paint, toilet paper and even milk.
