A major operation to suppress corruption is continuing in Serbia, and on Tuesday, on the order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, the Military Police entered the Military Medical Academy (VMA) clinic.

Telegraf.rs has learned that the head of the VMA toxicology department was arrested for defrauding citizens and charging them for expensive tests, although they would come to this healthcare institution for cheaper, toxicological analyses.

In addition to her, the former director of the Chamber of Nurses, Radmila Ugrica, got arrested early this morning on suspicion of taking money raised for humanitarian purposes, meant to help members of the chamber, and during the search of her home in Serbia, a contract for the purchase of an apartment in Greece was discovered.

After the arrest, Ugrica was taken to the police, escorted by two policewomen, handcuffed and with a hood on her head.

One of her colleagues, the chamber's accountant, was arrested along with the former director.

She was also taken to the police handcuffs and wearing a hood, so that her face could not be seen.

The two were arrested on suspicion of transferring the chamber's funds to personal accounts and obtaining illegal gains in excess of 10 million dinars.
