We often witness unpleasant scenes whenever the fans of Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) and Partizan - bitter rivals who support the two Belgrade clubs - cross each other's path.
It often ends in serious clashes and, unfortunately, lives have been lost in this way in the past.
Recently, there was the bad example from Niksic, where the fans - nicknamed "Delije" and "Grobari" - clashed, and no less than ahead of a humanitarian concert organized by Red Star fans to help Serbs in Kosovo.
Still, a video from the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina) restores hope that there can be harmony and healthy rivalry between the two groups.
Namely, the video now published on the social sites, that was taken in Brod on January 9, on RS Day, shows Delije and Grobari facing each other, both standing close to the graffiti painted in the colors of their respective clubs.
Delije are in front of their graffiti, Grobari on the other side in front of their own - and then one group started shouting, "Republika" ("Republic") while the other replied, "Srpska" ("Serb") - which was followed by applause, and then they started chanting, "Kosovo is the heart of Serbia."
After this, the fans approached each other, hugged, and continued hanging out.
This is truly the kind of scene that has been considered unimaginable thus far, but it definitely restores faith in the possibility of maintaining a healthy rivalry, where Serbia, is above any divisiveness including that based on a football fandom.
