Brnabic: National Assembly will not be blocked
The president of the Assembly of Serbia and Vice-President of the Main Board of the SNS, Ana Brnabic, said today that there are different opinions within that party on whether to hold elections or form a new government, and pointed out that they, as serious people, are thinking about how to find a way for dialogue to take place in society.
Brnabic told TV K1 that the opposition has no vision, no strategy, and no responsibility regarding the dialogue that must take place in the National Assembly.
She added that as long as she is the president, the Assembly will never be blocked.
"They can try to block parliament, but parliament will work," said Brnabic.
She also stated that the government will be functioning it its full mandate until the Assembly confirms the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, and that there are different opinions within the SNS about whether to go for early elections, or form a new government.
"There are different opinions within our party about what is better at this moment. I just want to underline that currently there is an incredible amount of irresponsibility in the ranks of the opposition, who have now announced that it will try to block the session of the National Assembly during which the resignation of the prime minister should be confirmed," said Brnabic.
She recalled that representatives of opposition parties tried to block the work of the Assembly during the adoption of the draft budget for 2025 because they wanted to discuss trust in the government, and now they are effectively preventing the government from falling.
"You see that it is in fact, as children would say, 'counter-contrary'. (I.e.) Now I don't even want what I do want," Brnabic said.
Asked about the mood in the SNS after Vucevic's resignation, Brnabic said that they, as serious people, think about how to find a way for dialogue to take place in society, adding that she has never been prouder to be a member of that party.
"We demonstrated responsibility, that roles are not important to us, that power in itself is not important, instead it is to do good and bring changes to society, fight for our country. Vucevic showed responsibility and President Vucic shows it all the time. That is the difference between the SNS and others, above all those who were in power until 2012. Various accidents were happening, but none of them showed either moral or personal responsibility," said Brnabic.
