Five people in the town of Nis received treatment last night at the University Clinical Center for symptoms caused by poisoning from an as-yet-unidentified source.

According to initial information, this concerns health workers employed in the clinic in Dragise Misovica Street, and this building was urgently evacuated.

It is suspected that the possible cause is a mazut (fuel oil) leak from the heating plant, which spread through sewer pipes, but this has not yet been confirmed.

Telegraf.rs has learned that all patients reported the same symptoms - nausea, headache, dry mouth and tremors.

Last night, two women and a man came to the Clinic for Endocrinology, Department of Toxicology. One woman was kept for observation, but is completely stable and is likely to be discharged today.

Two patients came to the emergency center, and both of them were discharged for home treatment after examination, Telegraf.rs has learned.

The police conducted an investigation, the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office has been informed.
