President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic told the opposition last night that if they want elections, they can get them right away, but that he is not sure it would work out for them, since according to the latest major opinion poll the SNS is even more dominant with 48.7 percent support, while the first in the opposition has seven percent.

"You want elections? It can be done. And, demand that. But I'm not sure that you want that. How much is 48.7? Yes. And the first in the opposition is the one who has never been the first in the opposition, this time with seven percent. Now there are 10 of them with two, three percent. The ones that are very big, they declined to four percent. And the ones that are very important, that were nothing, they jumped to seven," said Vucic, responding to a journalist who asked whether there would be an election and if he is afraid of the will of the people at this moment.

Vucic said he got the latest numbers from the biggest omnibus survey last night.

"There are many interesting things there both in terms of topics and everything. But what I could notice as the main characteristic is that there are big changes, but also in the opposition ranks. The party whose president is (PM) Milos Vucevic, the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), is even more convincingly dominant," Vucic stressed.

He added that the changes regarding the opposition happened due to student protests.

"Alright, they don't like us, that goes without saying, but they don't like the others either. You have to understand that when you run a campaign in one direction, it causes a terrible response from other people. Do you really think when 'Brother Dalton' comes and says such scary things to that woman, that everybody's son doesn't recognize himself in that, everybody's daughter, and that he should be the one to lead the country, he should change the government in this country to come to power against someone who, even without coalition partners, would have 55 percent of seats (in the Assembly), maybe even more. Where can that happen? Well, nowhere," said Vucic.
