In Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Nis and some other cities, high school and university students and groups of citizens today blocked some intersections for 15 minutes, stating that they were in this way paying respect to the victims of the November 1 railway station tragedy in Novi Sad.

In Belgrade, high school students blocked the road in front of the Government building, as well as a roundabout near the municipal hall in New Belgrade, and then headed towards Usce, which they announced they intended to block for 45 minutes.

Takovska Street in front of RTS, Oslobodjenja and Kralja Aleksandra Boulevards near the Law and Technical Faculties, Trosarina, the intersection in Vidikovac were also blocked.

Protesters from the ranks of those employed in the IT industry blocked the corner of Omladinskih Brigada and Heroja od Kosara streets.

The NADA coalition blocked the E 75 highway in the direction of Nis.

In Novi Sad, several locations were blocked in the central part of the town, after opposition activists previously blocked the Novi Sad-Belgrade highway.

Protests were also held in Kraljevo, Sabac, Smederevo, Jagodina, Zajecar, and Uzice.

The students blocking faculties and a part of the opposition announced earlier that they would organize protests and blockades in many cities today, calling for a general strike and urging business people, entrepreneurs, vendors, restaurateurs and cultural institutions to join them in support of the students' demands.

In Belgrade and other cities, however, the day went mostly as usual.

Shops, pharmacies, banks were open, and public transport services were running.

Traffic was only blocked in the locations where the protests were taking place, and in the streets along which participants in protest marches were moving.
