Dacic comments on arrest of driver who killed policewoman in Belgrade: He will be charged with two crimes
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic has said that members of the Ministry of the Interior in Belgrade arrested 32-year-old A.R., a driver who is suspected of being responsible for a hit-and-run on January 19 in Belgrade, as a result of which a policewoman died.
"Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade arrested A.R. (32) on suspicion that he committed criminal acts - a serious crime against public traffic safety and failure to provide assistance to a person injured in a traffic accident.
It is suspected that on January 19, in the morning hours. in Kumodraska Street, while driving a Fiat Panda, he hit 46-year-old police officer S.J., who was off duty, and who died on the spot due to her injuries.
The police soon found the vehicle the crime was committed with, and the suspect was arrested today.
The suspect will be held in police custody for up to 48 hours and will then be brought before the Second Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade along with a criminal complaint," Minister Dacic said.
