Details about family patron saint celebration murder: Man kills son-in-law with 20 centimeter kitchen knife
Miodrag B. (71) is in custody, suspected of killing his former son-in-law Dane N. (42) in a house in Batajnica, suburban Belgrade.
The victim died in the Emergency Center.
Telegraf.rs learned that the deadly incident was preceded by an altercation, following which Miodrag, angry and drunk, went to the kitchen and fetched a 20-centimeter long knife that he then plunged into Dane's chest.
The man was in serious condition when he was admitted to the hospital, where he soon passed away.
The gruesome murder took place in front of family members, gathered in the house to celebrate their patron saint day (Serbian: slava).
"His (the victim's) children were immediately taken out of the house and to a neighbor's, who spent a sleepless night looking after them. He (the neighbor) ran into the store and said that something horrendous had happened, he was distraught and afraid," a local woman told Telegraf.rs the day of the murder, January 20.
The suspect will be questioned today at the High Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, and if put on trial and found guilty, faces a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
