Prime Minister of Serbia Milos Vucevic has offered his condolences to the families of those killed in this morning's fire in the home for the elderly in Barajevo.

"Bad news, difficult morning. I would like to express my condolences to the families of those who died, I hope that the injured will recover," Vucevic told Happy TV.

Vucevic added that the investigation will establish all the details, and that he received information from Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nemanja Starovic, who was at the scene, that the cause of the fire is most likely the human factor.

"Probably the use of a lighter, unfortunately with tragic consequences. The fire happened between three and four in the morning. The firefighters arrived in record time. About 30 residents were there at that moment. Unfortunately, we have lost lives," stated Vucevic and added that the nursing home was operating legally, with a license.
