Dodik: If US claims right to Greenland, then Serbia also has right to Serb Republic

President of the Serb Republic (RS, Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik said on Thursday that everything has an alternative, including the European Union, adding that if the United States claims the right to Greenland, then Serbia also has the right to the RS.

Dodik was referring to recent announcements by US President-elect Donald Trump that he would like to see Greenland as part of the US, even though Greenland is a self-governing autonomous territory under the sovereignty of Denmark.

"If any of us mentions borders, they jump up: 'Borders must not be touched'. Borders are like the sacred cow. How can it be done now, but not apply to the RS? At the Assembly on January 9, 1992, the basic idea was an independent state, not any kind of entity. If the Americans say that it was not secession (from Yugoslavia) that happened with Slovenia and Croatia, but 'reality on the ground" - was the RS also not the reality on the ground?

Why did you return us to that nonsense called Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)? If Greenland and Canada can, if East and West Germany could, how come the RS can't, and join Serbia? Then Russia too has the right to Ukraine," Dodik told RT Balkan.

Dodik stressed that the EU has no leader and that many countries that cling to sovereignty will naturally oppose Brussels as a center "that imposes what are already failed values."

He asked what happened to the European rule of law.

"You want me to bring you to BiH and then tell me about the rule of law, ask what this (high represetative) Schmidt is doing here, if there is the rule of law in Europe," said Dodik.

The problem faced by the RS, he continued, is that according to US records more than than 450 people built their careers based on lies about the Serbs, dating back to the time of the civil war in BiH.

"It is known that it is a lie that the Serbs in BiH killed 300,000 people, but no one mentions that it is a lie anymore. When, on one occasion, I said that official reports and the UN commander refuted those claims, an American approached me and said - you have to to understand that 450 Americans have built their careers on that lie. And Biden is the biggest liar of them all," Dodik said.
