Serbia to hold motion of confidence referendum on Vucic, SNS members of Assembly launching initiative?
After the holidays, Serbia could vote on a motion of confidence referendum regarding President Aleksandar Vucic, Informer writes.
SNS members of the National Assembly will come up with an initiative to schedule an advisory referendum, where a vote of confidence in President Aleksandar Vucic will be taken, according to Informer.
"He (President Vucic) has no intention of leaving this doubt floating in the public eye, I expect the president to say so publicly, that after this (CRTA opinion) poll and after these scandalous public claims, the SNS will launch an initiative on trust regarding the president of the Republic. About whether Vucic should be president, or not," Informer editor-in-chief Dragan J. Vucicevic said.
Vucic offered referendum last year
In August of last year, Vucic called on opposition members of the Assembly to request a referendum on his impeachment in the National Assembly and said that he would step down if 50 percent of the votes were in favor of that.
Vucic received support for this idea from the ranks of the SNS party and its partners.
"Submit the request, 80 of you, don't even look for 85, I will provide you with the rest of the signatures and before the end of the year we will have an impeachment referendum. Because that's what you're looking for. I will fight against you then as well. Here, I made it possible for you, don't be fooling the people, you're not doing it (protesting at the time) because of lithium," Vucic said, addressing the opposition.
