Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric said today that President Aleksandar Vucic, by proposing that Serbia be the venue for a possible meeting between US President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, further raised the reputation of our country in the international community.

Djuric added that Serbia is ready to offer all resources to help to solve a global problem.

In an interview with Tanjug, he also said that Serbia will lobby and offer good services, and that great powers will look into what is in their own interest.

"With this proposal, President Vucic really puts our country on the map in the international community and even if the meeting never happens, Serbia is recognized today in the international arena as a can-do country, that is reliable, that is credible and that is why it is considered as one of the possible locations for such summits and meetings," said Djuric.

Djuric added that in the past, Serbia also hosted various meeting that had not been made public, such as talks about Afghanistan and the Middle East.

"Today as well we are ready to offer all our resources to help solve this global problem," he added.

Commenting on Serbia being considered as the host for such a meeting, Djuric said that the very fact that our country is "in the game for something like that and that it is perceived as acceptable in the world, lifts us out of the mire of everyday Balkan conflicts and divisions."

The head of Serbian diplomacy added that certain regional politicians want to drag us into these conflicts and divisions, as they do not like Serbia making strides either economically, infrastructurally or when it comes to the country's reputation in the international community.
