A member of the Presidency of the Serb List, Igor Simic, said today that the decision made by the election commission in Pristina regarding the composition of electoral committees drastically violates election rules, endangers the legality, legitimacy and democratic character of the elections scheduled for February 9, and pointed out that the Serb List was drastically damaged by that decision.

Addressing a press conference in Kosovska Mitrovica, Simic said that this decision deprived the Serb List of the opportunity to control the legality of the voting and added that representatives of the Serb List are on their way to Pristina to file an appeal with the election panel for appeals and petitions.

He stressed that the electoral rule, that the Central Election Commission in Pristina itself had adopted and according to which electoral committees must reflect the ethnic composition, was absolutely violated.

"Our representative in the election commission did not vote for the adoption of such a decision. And they went a step further. At the session, a system was first presented that divided members of electoral committees according to political entities. When the decision I am now talking about was printed, it was printed with the changes where the Serb List was drastically damaged. The decision was not officially voted on at the session of the Central Election Commission. That decision was signed, stamped and sent to all municipal election commissions to act according to," said Simic.

He added that they expect the election panel for appeals and petitions to reject this decision and restore the situation that should correspond to the election rule that the composition of election committees in all municipalities with both Albanian and Serb majorities must reflect their ethnic composition.

"I understand that they want to play political games and engage in political engineering. They did that when they wanted to prevent the Serb List from participating in these elections. But this is a drastic violation of the law, an obvious violation of the law and election rules and this most directly threatens the legality, legitimacy and democratic character of the election," said Simic.

He also invited international representatives, representatives of the embassies of the Quint (US, Germany, Italy, France, UK) and representatives of monitoring missions to analyze everything and understand what the lives of Serbs in the area of Kosovo and Metohija look like and how legal, legitimate and democratic the process that should be held on February 9 will be.
