Since the beginning of the year, 8 people have been killed and 381 injured in traffic accidents in Serbia, the Traffic Police Administration (USP) has announced.

During the previous year, the traffic police discovered over 3,000 violations involving driving under the influence of psychoactive substances and more than 60,000 violations of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Be responsible - do not drive if you have consumed alcohol or other substances that negatively affect behavior in traffic, the police are saying.

Also, during the previous year, more than 1,400 violations by drivers against pedestrians and more than 17,000 violations by pedestrians, who are still often killed in traffic accidents, were discovered.

"Make sure that the driver has spotted you and started braking, before you step onto the road as a pedestrian. Use reflective materials in your clothing, because you save life only if you are visible enough.

More than 5,000 detected violations of transportation of children in improper ways last year were not enough to reduce the number of children who get hurt as passengers.

Adjust your speed, do not take risky actions with the vehicle and show extra care and attention if you are transporting a child. From the Traffic Police Administration, we want you to be safe and not endanger other participants in traffic," the USP told Telegraf.rs.
