KFOR confirms: We have written guarantee that KSF won't be sent to northern Kosovo without our approval

KFOR has confirmed that any deployment of the so-called KSF ("Kosovo Security Force") in northern Kosovo and Metohija requires prior approval from the KFOR commander, based on the 2013 agreement between NATO and Pristina.

KFOR told Albanian language media that the mission welcomes Pristina's continued compliance with this obligation, as well as the latest guarantees received in writing from the minister of defense of the provisional institutions, Ejup Macedonci.

"According to the NATO-Kosovo agreement, any relocation of the KSF to the north of Kosovo requires prior approval of the KFOR commander. We welcome the continued compliance with this obligation and the latest written guarantee, which reflects KFOR's regular dialogue with representatives of security organizations in Kosovo and Kosovo institutions. including Mr. Macedonci," stated KFOR's response, reports Koha.

It is added that transparent communication and timely coordination are key to sustainable security in Kosovo and Metohija and regional stability.

KFOR did not provide details about the letter sent by Macedonci.

The media in Pristina said previously that the government of the provisional Pristina institutions had sent KFOR a letter guaranteeing that they will not deploy the so-called KSF to the north without the permission of KFOR.

Macedonci stated that he reiterated in the letter that Pristina will continue to honor the commitment made on April 19, 2013, according to which the so-called KSF can be engaged in the north only after prior coordination with the KFOR commander.
