Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric says he expects that the strategic dialogue between the US and Serbia will open in the next few days.

He told TV K1 that today he expects great news regarding Serbia-US relations.

"Today I expect new great news related to (Serbia's) relations with the United States of America. If it turns out to be true that in the next few days a strategic dialogue between Serbia and the US will start, it would be a phenomenal signal and a sign that in the future, with the new Trump administration as well, we will achieve outstanding results in cooperation," said Djuric.

He pointed out this would introduce a systematic approach, regular cooperation between our institutions, regular consultations and would increase the volume of exchange in all areas.

"But let's wait for it to be official," Djuric said.

He added that Serbia wants to continue to nurture agreements with its traditional friends and allies, but also that it is in Serbia's highest state national interest to have cooperation with the most powerful Western country.

Djuric also stated that before the inauguration of Donald Trump, Serbia will send the name of its new ambassador to Washington.
