Deputy Prime Minister Vulin: Serbia and China - a community for common future
"The degree of relations between the People's Republic of China and Serbia has grown and outgrown what we had as steely friendship. We are now, as they say, a community for a common future. It is something much more, it is an alliance with the People's Republic of China. After all, a personal relationship between Presidents Vucic and Xi Jinping, it has outgrown politics, they are also personal friends, and that is highly respected in China," Aleksandar Vulin, Deputy Prime Minister in the Government of the Republic of Serbia told RTS after returning from an official visit to China.
He said that China's support to Serbia is extremely important. "China always puts at our disposal not only its voice but also those of friendly countries that take into account and care about what China thinks. To have China's support, those much bigger and richer than us are are fighting for that. To sign a free trade agreement with China is something much richer and more powerful countries than us are hoping and dreaming of. Just imagine if there was no China.
Imagine us, at a session of the General Assembly or the UN Security Council or a session of any international forum without China and Russia. How would we fight? With great difficulty, it would be much harder. Look at the Council of Europe, there is no Russia and China and Kosovo could immediately become a full member. How can it join Interpol, when you have China and Russia there?"
"China is a superpower and it treats us as an equal partner. It is very important when China supports you in the international arena, just as it is important that we also support the People's Republic of China in all areas of its international struggle for independence, and most importantly for the re-establishment of the international law system, the international law that was killed in 1999 (NATO bombing of Serbia), when Chinese citizens were also killed in Belgrade. China does not forget that," Vulin said.
