Minister of Defense Bratislav Gasic pointed out that, although he fully understands the indignation of President Aleksandar Vucic, his resignation would represent a serious blow to the defense and security sector of our country, the Ministry of Defense announced.

"President Vucic is the only person with absolutely indisputable political authority. His leadership is especially important in the security sector because it stems from the direct will of the citizens of Serbia. The big question is in which direction various security crises would have developed in previous years if Aleksandar Vucic had not been at the helm of the defense system with his experience as a statesman and his democratic legitimacy," Gasic said.

He recalled the fact that the Serbian Army began to recover from decades of neglect and destruction only after the mandate of Aleksandar Vucic as Minister of Defense in 2012.

"Vucic found the Army in a deplorable state that year and started reform processes that continue to this day. Thanks to that policy, the Serbian Army was completely revitalized and now represents a serious, well-equipped and trained armed force, immeasurably stronger than ten years ago. I believe that resignation of the president, without any doubt, would threaten not only the development, but also the stability of the defense system.

I am asking him on my own behalf, and I believe that the majority of the decent and normal Serbia that supports him will agree with me, to consider and think once more, and not allow himself to succumb to pressure from those who want to return this country to the age of predatory privatizations, destabilization, dismemberment and destruction of everything that was painstakingly built in the last 12 years," Gasic said.

Informer said they learned that President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic could resign.

According to Informer, this could happen in the next three months, when, instead of a Government reshuffle, Serbia would hold eections at all levels, and it is quite possible that Vucic would not even take part in the parliamentary elections, either.

"President Vucic harshly criticized, behind closed doors, the entire Government, spoke with horror about the coalition partners and said that he is fed up with everything, that he is not at all afraid of the opposition scum, or of their bosses from the outside. He is especially disappointed with the attitude of those who received the most from the state, did the least for it, and are never satisfied with anything," reports Informer.

All this could be a bit clearer already on Saturday when the president will address the public.

President Vucic announced his address during a Government session he attended at the invitation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic.
