Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic has traffic accident
Bratislav Gasic (57), Minister of Defense in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, had a traffic accident this morning on the Ibar highway.
The accident is believed to have been caused by a driver who, apparently, fell asleep at the wheel, then lost control of the car and crashed into official vehicles of the Ministry of Defense, including the one in which Bratislav Gasic was traveling.
An Informer source from the investigation said that the force of the impact caused the wheel to fall off the car driven by the person who caused the accident.
"It's really lucky that nobody was injured. Considerable damage was caused to all three vehicles that took part in this traffic accident," said the Informer source and added that the police have carried out their investigation.
"The driver who caused the accident took a breathalyzer test. His car was taken for technical inspection to determine whether it was in proper condition at the time of the collision," the source added.
The investigation into this case is ongoing, and after it has been completed all the details will be known.
The Ministry of Defense in the meanwhile announced that Gasic was not hurt during the incident and that he resumed his regular duties during the day on Tuesday.
