On Friday, December 13, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said that in a few days, the US will introduce complete sanctions against the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), because of Russian ownership.

According to him, this one of the most difficult news in the last few years.

"It has been confirmed to us, we haven't received the official paper yet, but the news has been confirmed to us and our service has confirmed it with the sister services. So, the United States of America will in a few days introduce full, complete sanctions against the Petroleum Industry of Serbia due to Russian ownership," Vucic told TV Informer.

Oil currently arrives in Serbia via the Adriatic pipeline (JANAF), located in Croatia. Telegraf Biznis contacted them with the aim of finding out if they had received information about the intentions to impose sanctions against NIS, how they would react and how it would affect cooperation.

We carry the reply we received in its entirety:

"We stress that NIS a.d. is JANAF's long-standing and largest business partner, with whom it has a three-year contract to transport 10 million tons of oil, until the end of 2026."
