Serbian FA head Dzajic reacts to World Cup qualifiers draw: "England are favorites, but we can handle them"
The Serbian national football team has learned its rivals in the qualifiers for the World Cup 2026. The draw put our squad in Group K, along with England, Albania, Latvia, and Andorra.
The president of the Football Association of Serbia (FSS), Dragan Dzajic, soon after reacted and was very clear about Serbia's goals in this qualification phase.
"The group is demanding, I wouldn't go into whether it could have been harder or easier, we simply know what our goal is and we have to focus first of all on ourselves and our preparation. It is important that we are ready in every sense, psychologically, physically," he said, and added:
"England are of course favorites, regardless of who they are in a group with, but we can play against them. I repeat, it's important that we take it one game at a time, have faith in ourselves, in the quality we possess. We know what we want, we know what we can do, I don't think the others are happy about (drawing) us, either. We can achieve the goal, it all for the most part depends on us."
Only the team that finishes the qualifications as the best in the group will go to the World Cup directly, while the second-placed will face playoffs.
