Groups of citizens and students again blocked roads in Belgrade and Novi Sad
In Belgrade, Novi Sad and some other cities in Serbia, groups of citizens and students once again blocked roads for 15 minutes today, urged to do so by the opposition and some other groups, in order to pay respect to the victims of the Novi Sad tragedy of November 1 and demand accountability for it.
The blocking of roads upset drivers who wanted to pass through.
In Belgrade, groups of students blocked intersections near several faculties and near the Saint Sava Temple.
A group of citizens, organized by the initiative "The Bridge Remains," blocked traffic in Takovska Street in front of RTS, in order to, as they stated, underline the silence of the public service about the tragedy, and the leader of the Democratic Party, Zoran Lutovac, was with them.
There were also minor verbal altercations, as some citizens asked to pass through.
According to some media reports, during the blockade on Student Square in front of the Belgrade Philharmonic, an incident occurred in which some participants, includingn four musicians, were injured when a vehicle ran into them.
Blockades were held in several locations in Novi Sad. The protest in front of Banovina was called by the opposition this morning, and it turned into a debate with citizens who do not support the blockades, and was met with the displeasure of drivers hooting their horns.
Protests were also held in Kragujevac, Nis, Gornji Milanovac and Sremski Karlovci.
15 people died as the consequence of the collapse of the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad on November 1.
