Brnabic: Opposition wants permanent state of emergency, but we are far from civil war

President of the National Assembly Ana Brnabic has said that Serbia is a completely different country than it was 12 years ago, but that the opposition wants to keep it in a permanent state of emergency, yet "we are not even close to a civil war."

Commenting on the events in Novi Sad, Brnabic said that, "when there were the most of them (protesters), it was 550."

According to her, it's always the same people that want the destabilization of the country, only the topics change.

"Some of them have always been extremists, and others have become extremists due to a lack of vision, plan and program. Today we saw some 200, 500 extremists in Novi Sad, which we see every time," said Brnabic.

She added that they use every opportunity to upset the public, but that Serbia is a stable country with strong institutions.

"The prosecutor's office is independent, I think that everyone in Serbia is aware of that," said Brnabic.
