Prime Minister of Serbia Milos Vucevic said today that the Business Forum "Serbia - Nord Est Italia" aimed at establishing regional business connections, is an introduction to the joint session that the governments of Serbia and Italy will hold on January 31.

"That meeting should provide us with a new impetus, new energy in the overall Serbian-Italian relations, of course also in the field of economy," said Vucevic.

He stressed that the business forum is proof that relations between the two countries are on the rise, while the key message of the Government of Serbia and President Aleksandar Vucic is that Serbia will preserve stability of both the state and the region, as well as peace, and that it will continue on an accelerated path towards EU integration.

"The goal of the Government of Serbia is to adopt all the necessary acts by the end of 2026 and implement a complete reform in terms of both the growth agenda and the growth plan and to do all we can, that depends on Serbia," Vucevic said.

He added that Italy is very much so present on the Serbian market in terms of the large number of companies that operate here.

"30,000 people work in companies that were founded with capital from Italy, and Italian companies dominate primarily in the banking and insurance sectors. I believe that by opening Serbia to Europe and the world, we will be even more attractive for investors. And I believe that this forum is the essence of that," said Vucevic.

He stressed that Serbian products should be more competitive on the Italian market and that this gathering is one link in the chain of everything that Serbia and Italy are doing together.

The prime minister added that Serbia has received a credit investment rating and, for the first time, recognition from international agencies that assess the finances and overall economy of a country.

"Serbia is not a member of the EU, it is not a member of any military alliance. It has open communication with Asian and African countries, in difficult geopolitical circumstances, and yet it managed to get a credit investment rating, which is a signal to investors that Serbia is a good place and a safe home for their capital," said Vucevic.
