"Today's event is an insult to all Serbs!" Serb List condemns police incursion in Banjska

The Serb List issued a press release today and after para-police units raided the village of Banjska, where they took the body of a young man, M.R., after putting pressure on the family.

"We are appalled by the behavior of (Albin) Kurti's para-police units and we strongly condemn today's incursion in the village of Banjska, where pressure was put on the family of a young man, M.R., who died in a traffic accident, to take his body away, and thus, in the moments of their greatest grief, caused additional pain to the family.

According to the locals, dozens of members of Kurti's phalanx, armed to the teeth, burst into this Serb village this morning and took the body of the deceased young man while the grieving family was preparing to bury him - all under the pretext that they had to take the body to Pristina for an autopsy. The unfortunate family had no other choice but to follow the body of their dead son to Pristina.

This incursion has upset all the Serbs in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, and the inhumane nature of this treatment caused indignation among the entire Serb people. The living can't have any peace from Kurti and his henchmen, is it possible that those who have passed away can't, either?

Today's event is an insult to all Serbs, but also a disgrace for all those who talk about the rule of law and respecting human rights during meetings with representatives of the Serb List.

Grabbing the body of a deceased Serb youth from his loved ones will remain a permanent scar on the soul of all Serbs in the north, but also throughout Kosovo and Metohija. That mark will be a warning to all of us to never settle for this kind of violence again," said the Serb List.
